Retaining walls in Lindale, Tyler, Van & East Texas

A washed-out slope does not fix itself. We build retaining walls with proper drainage behind them, so the hill stays put and the water goes where it should.

Signs it is time

  • Soil washing onto the driveway or patio after rain
  • A slope creeping toward the house or shop
  • A leaning or bulging old wall
  • Exposed roots and gullies

What we do

  • Assess drainage: Where the water comes from and where it should go.
  • Excavate & base: A solid, level footing.
  • Build: Block, stone or timber.
  • Drainage: Gravel and drain pipe behind the wall.
  • Backfill & grade: Finished and sloped right.

Built for East Texas weather

Heavy spring rains on clay soil are a recipe for erosion. Most failed walls we see did not have drainage behind them; the water builds pressure until the wall gives.

A retaining wall holds back soil and the water in it. Without gravel backfill and a drain pipe behind it, water pressure builds after every rain until the wall leans or fails. That drainage layer is the part you never see and the part that matters most.

Options

  • Block wall: Clean and durable.
  • Stone wall: Natural look.
  • Timber wall: Rustic and economical.
  • Drainage only: Sometimes grading and a drain fix it.

Questions

Why did my old wall lean?

Usually water pressure behind it with no drainage. A new wall needs a drain path to last.

How tall can a retaining wall be?

It depends on the material and site. Taller walls need engineering; we will tell you where that line is.
